The West Bromwich Albion striker is reportedly attracting attention from Burnley.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Burnley are lining up a summer swoop for West Brom forward Jay Rodriguez.
The 28-year-old grew up supporting the Clarets, and began his career at Turf Moor way back in 2007, before making his £6 million switch to Southampton in 2012.
Rodriguez left St Mary’s to join the Baggies in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be in the region of £12 million.
According to the Daily Mail, West Brom would be willing to sell the striker, but only if they receive an offer in excess of what they paid for him nine months ago.
Whilst Sean Dyche will undoubtedly want to bolster his attacking options this summer, it is questionable as to whether the Baggies striker is the man they need.
The one-capped England international is far from prolific, having scored just 91 goals in 310 career appearances. He is a hard worker, though, and his willingness to make unselfish runs into the channels will surely appeal to Dyche.
The Burnley boss already has plenty of hard-working forwards at his disposal at Turf Moor, however, including the likes of Jonathan Walters and Sam Vokes.
If the Clarets are to sign another striker this summer, they will surely be better served in targeting more of an out-and-out goalscorer.
Only six teams have scored fewer Premier League goals than the Lancashire this season, and if they are to make progress once again next term, the addition of an established goalscorer will surely be a necessity.
