Charlton Athletic may have to pay a fee for the out-of-contract Burnley left-back Ali Koiki, according to The Sun on Sunday (4 October, page 59).
Koiki is said to be keen to move on despite being offered fresh terms by Burnley.
And it is claimed that the Clarets will take Charlton to a tribunal hearing if the League One club go through with a deal, as they seek compensation for the 21-year-old.
Charlton are rebuilding under their new owner Thomas Sandgaard, following a summer of upheaval which began with their relegation from the Championship.
But the Addicks could lose Alfie Doughty ahead of this month’s transfer deadline, and Koiki would be a useful replacement on paper.
The former Crystal Palace kid failed to make a single first-team appearance for Burnley – where Charlie Taylor and Erik Pieters were most recently ahead of him in Sean Dyche’s plans – but did play 15 times while on loan to Swindon Town the season before last.
It remains to be seen how much Koiki is likely to cost Charlton, should the Londoners proceed with his transfer.
