Sean Dyche wants to bring proven Premier League players to Burnley with £10 million Everton midfielder Fabian Delph on his radar, according to The Sun (6 September, page 63).

While a deal to bring Abdoulaye Doucoure to Goodison Park has yet to be completed, it seems only a matter of time before the powerhouse Frenchman joins Brazil international Allan in a new-look Toffees midfield.

And once Jean-Philippe Gbamin returns at long last from the treatment table, it’s hard to see where Delph, a Marco Silva signing, fits into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

The £10 million enforcer only moved to Merseyside last summer but already appears to have little future at Everton.

However, if the Bradford-born 30-year-old has his heart set on becoming a key player again at Premier League level, it’s hard to imagine a better destination than Turf Moor.

After all, the hard-working and adaptable Delph is about as typical a Sean Dyche player as you could imagine.

A 20-cap England international who won two Premier League titles at Manchester City while playing in an unorthodox left-back role much of the time, Delph remains a fine footballer and a positive influence in the dressing room to boot.

As none other than Pep Guardiola said, he is a natural-born “leader” on and off the pitch (Independent).

Delph earns £80,000 a week at Everton, according to Spotrac, more than any player in Burnley’s squad.

The Sun suggests the Clarets would need to land Delph on a reduced fee to afford his hefty pay packet.
