Burnley wanted Everton winger Aaron Lennon during the summer, and they may be ready to make a fresh bid in January.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 10th September 2017; page 58), Burnley plan to make a fresh move for Everton winger Aaron Lennon in January having failed to bring him to Turf Moor during the summer.

The Daily Mail reported on their live transfer feed on deadline day (31st August 2017; 10:57 am) that the Clarets were keen on moving for the 30-year-old during the final hours of the window – but Everton’s desire to keep him made a switch unlikely.

However, The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 10th September 2017; page 58) is now reporting Sean Dyche’s men will attempt to land Lennon in the winter in the hope that the former England international is keen on a deal, having stuck with the Toffees in the summer.

Based on how many opportunities Lennon has had so far this term, it may not be too great a surprise to see Ronald Koeman open the door for some kind of deal to be done if he continues to struggle for game-time.

Sean Dyche, Manager of Burnley looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley at Wembley Stadium on August 27, 2017 in London, England.

The former Tottenham wide-man has made just two substitutes appearances in all competitions for Everton this term, and has seen just seven minutes of action in the top flight, having been brought on late on in the defeat to Chelsea.

And if his first-team prospects do not improve at Goodison Park in the coming months, and Burnley are willing to guarantee more game-time, then perhaps he may well consider making a move in January if the chance presents itself.
