According to Bild, Burnley are making a move to bring Werder Bremen goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka to Turf Moor amid speculation linking Nick Pope with Tottenham.
The Clarets are moving for Stoke City defender Nathan Collins at the moment, seemingly protecting themselves just in case James Tarkowski leaves.
It’s now suggested that Burnley are also looking towards another stopper, with Pavlenka wanted in a cut-price move following Werder’s relegation.
Burnley’s interest in Pavlenka
The report claims that a €3million (£2.6million) offer will be made by Burnley within days, with contact already made.
Burnley’s move for Pavelnka ‘should become very concrete’ by the end of the week according to this report, and could join up with Czech Republic international teammate Matej Vydra.
Werder Bremen suffered relegation last season, and with Pavlenka having just one year left on his deal, the 29-year-old looks primed to leave this summer.

Tottenham boost over Pope?
Maybe Burnley just want better competition for Nick Pope. Maybe they’re not 100% sold on Bailey Peacock-Farrell and want him to go out on loan, hence the interest in another goalkeeper.
Maybe Burnley are protecting themselves in case Pope’s knee injury doesn’t progress well this summer.
Yet given Pavlenka’s profile as a Bundesliga regular and Czech international, you have to wonder whether he would take a bench role at Burnley.
That will leave question marks over the future of Pope, who is viewed as the heir to Hugo Lloris at Tottenham according to The Telegraph back in March.
Pope still has two years left on his Burnley deal, but if Tottenham come knocking, this may be the 29-year-old’s big chance of a huge Premier League move.
The links to Pavlenka will naturally cause panic over Pope, and the hope will be that Tottenham don’t make a move for Pope whilst having no manager in place.
