Burnley have made a bid to sign Arsenal defender Rob Holding on loan, but the deal may be dependant on the Gunners signing Jonny Evans.

According to a report from The Sun, Burnley have made a loan offer to Arsenal which would see Rob Holding move to Turf Moor for the rest of the season.

Holding has enjoyed a mixed time since arriving at the Emirates Stadium from Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2016. His first year saw the 22-year-old show some real glimpses of quality, and he ended up playing the full match as Arsenal won the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Sean Dyche, Manager of Burnley reacts during the Premier League match between Everton and Burnley at Goodison Park on October 1, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

This term has arguably been much more of a struggle for the centre-back, with his form in the Premier League not quite as convincing, and it appears that he may be about to find himself slightly further down the pecking order.

The Sun reports that Arsenal are in the driving seat to sign £25 million-rated Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion. And if they pull off a deal, Wenger may be tempted to allow Holding to head out on loan.

The Sun adds that Burnley have made the offer to sign the defender for the rest of the season as Sean Dyche looks to give his squad the depth that should allow them to capitalise on what has been a brilliant few months at Turf Moor.

Dyche’s men are currently going through a poor run of form, but remain eighth in the table and are just a couple of wins away from reaching the 40-point mark that will undoubtedly give them a huge boost of confidence.
