West Bromwich Albion star Jay Rodriguez is reportedly back on Burnley’s radar after several bids in the summer.

According to a report from Sky Sports, West Brom may have to brace themselves for fresh interest from Burnley in striker Jay Rodriguez with Sean Dyche on the lookout for a versatile forward.

Sky Sports reports that Rodriguez was the subject of a number of bids from the Clarets in the summer, with their highest offer totalling £16 million. The move did not go through as the Baggies held out for a fee in excess of £18 million.

Dyche is apparently looking for a winger while he would also ideally like to bring a striker to Turf Moor in January. And Rodriguez’s ability to play in both roles has meant that he remains on the radar.

Sky Sports adds that Brentford’s Ollie Watkins is also being targeted, but a move currently looks unlikely with the Bees determined to get more than £20 million before they sell the 22-year-old.

Rodriguez – who joined for £12 milion, according to the Daily Mail – has largely made an excellent start to life in the Championship with the Baggies. His current record stands at eight goals in 16 appearances.

And given that he has proved that he can find the back of the net on a regular basis in the top flight, it would arguably be a big blow for Darren Moore to lose the 29-year-old in January.

However, with many supporters slating Rodriguez’s performance at the weekend in the defeat at Hull, perhaps the Baggies should not completely shut the door on a potential sale if Burnley decide to offer more than they did during their pursuit in the summer.
