Burnley are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal to sign Barnsley defender Marc Roberts.
A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Burnley could be closing in on a deal to sign highly-rated Barnsley defender Marc Roberts after the two clubs agreed a fee.
The 26-year-old has been one of several Tykes players who have impressed this season, helping Paul Heckingbottom’s men sit inside the top-half of the Championship with 20 games of the regular season to go.

That form has not gone unnoticed as the Mail reports that the Clarets have made a £3.5 million bid for Roberts, who had been playing non-league football for the entirety of his professional career before his move to Oakwell in 2015.

And despite his importance to the second tier side, it appears that they are willing to leave the path clear for him to make another step up – perhaps due to the fact that he has just 18 months left on his contract – as the Mail reports that the offer has been accepted, and the player will discuss personal terms with the Premier League outfit in the coming days.
Given the centre-back’s form this season, it would appear that Burnley could be on the verge of a bargain deal. Roberts has been one of the most consistent performers for Barnsley in recent times, and has proved a threat going forwards as well with two goals and two assists coming in the league.
