Dwight McNeil has emerged as a possible replacement for Leroy Sane at Manchester City, with ESPN claiming that Pep Guardiola is a fan of the Burnley winger.
If their anyone who emerged from that 5-0 trouncing at the Etihad on Monday with their reputation intact, it was a 20-year-old who stood up and fought while the rest of Sean Dyche’s side let City walk all over them.
It is not just McNeil’s never-say-die attitude that has impressed scouts from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, however.
As you might expect from a player who has learned his trade under Sean Dyche, the England U21 international is happy to put in the hard yards but it is his technical ability which really stands out.
McNeil is capable of putting a ball on a sixpence like a left-footed David Beckham.
It’s tempting to wonder how many assists the Rochdale-born wideman would have to his name this season if Burnley’s forwards had been a little more prolific this season.

But with ESPN reporting that McNeil has been lined up to replace £62 million-rated contract rebel Sane in Guardiola’s star-studded squad, the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus will surely relish the chance to get on the end of his famously devilish deliveries.
McNeil, who was released by Manchester United as a teenager, is valued at £30 million (Mail).
