Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly interested in signing the Sporting Lisbon star.
According to a report from Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Bruno Fernandes is still holding out hope that he could join Tottenham over the course of the next 12 months.
Spurs enjoyed a successful transfer window, bringing in Tanguy Ndombele, Jack Clarke, before loaning him back to Leeds, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.
The north London outfit were also allegedly keen on Fernandes, with A Bola claiming that they had a €65 million (£60 million) bid rejected for the 24-year-old.
The Portuguese outlet claims that Sporting were holding out for €70 million (£64.5 million).
The Portugal international was in sizzling form last season, racking up 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 appearances for Sporting.
He would undoubtedly be a superb addition for Tottenham, but it is debatable whether they actually need him now, especially if they manage to tie Christian Eriksen down to a new deal and keep the Dane at the club.
A Bola claims that Fernandes has not given up hope of moving to Spur sin the future, however.
Whether Spurs will go back in for the attacking midfielder over the course of the next two transfer windows though, remains to be seen.
