According to Sky Sports, Cagliari defender Bruno Alves is flying to Glasgow today in order to complete medical with Rangers ahead of a move to Ibrox.
The Gers are working hard to bring in a number of new signings this summer having finished third in the Scottish Premiership this season, a whopping 39 points behind league champions Celtic.

Centre back is one particular area of concern for manager Pedro Caixinha, given that Danny Wilson is injured, Rob Kiernan appears surplus to requirements, and both Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos will be leaving the club this summer.
Now, Sky Sports report that Rangers are closing in on a major signing, as Cagliari defender Bruno Alves is flying to Glasgow today in order to finalise talks and complete a medical with the club.

Alves, 35, has enjoyed a prominent career in Europe with Porto, Zenit St. Petersbug and Fenerbahce, and after winning Euro 2016 with Portugal last summer, he moved on to Italy with Cagliari.
With 36 league appearances, Alves has again shown that he can keep playing at a high level despite his advancing years, and he looks set to be the man brought in to lead Caixinha’s Rangers defence.

Alves is something of a coup for Rangers given his Champions League experience and 89 caps for Portugal, and will hopefully be a sign of what is still to come for Rangers this summer, who face a pivotal transfer window.
Bringing in quality players with a winning mentality is crucial for Rangers, and Alves – though he turns 36 later this year – fits the bill perfectly, with a deal now seemingly edging ever closer.
