According to The Sunday Mirror (Football pullout, 14/02, p8), Newcastle United are prepared to make a new move for Liverpool loanee Ozan Kabak this summer.

It’s claimed that Steve Bruce thought he had secured Kabak on deadline day, with the centre back indicating he was prepared to join Newcastle on loan until the end of the season.

However, Kabak changed his mind late in the day, going silent on the move because Liverpool swooped in with an offer to take him to Anfield.

Kabak picked Liverpool, joining them on loan with a view to an £18million permanent move this summer, and he made his debut in the 3-1 defeat at Leicester City on Saturday.

Liverpool will have a decision to make on such a deal this coming summer, and he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory at Leicester, colliding with goalkeeper Alisson to give Leicester the lead.

If Liverpool don’t make the move permanently, Newcastle would be willing to give him a full-time move to England, seemingly undeterred by his deadline day silence.

Kabak, 20, has shown talent with Galatasaray, Stuttgart and Schalke, but now needs to find his confidence again after Schalke’s dismal form over the last year.

It seems that Kabak will have another option in England if he wants it, with a return to Schalke now looking somewhat unlikely.
