According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has set his sights on Norwich City’s Jamal Lewis, Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and free agent Ryan Fraser.
It’s claimed that Newcastle are closing in on a loan deal for Arsenal defender Rob Holding, but Bruce has other targets in mind.
With a left back needed after Danny Rose returned to Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich ace Lewis makes sense following relegation.
Lewis has missed out on a move to Liverpool this summer, but fits the British mould that Bruce wants to bring to St James’ Park this summer.
Wilson is one of his top striker targets, and Bournemouth will find it difficult to keep hold of him having suffered relegation to the Championship.
He needs to be playing Premier League football if he is to break back into the England squad, and Newcastle could yet offer him that.
Free agent Fraser left Bournemouth before they actually went down, but remains a free agent with no deal struck with any team yet.
The Scottish winger was outstanding in the 2018-19 season with seven goals and 14 assists, but dipped last season – which could make him a more realistic target for Newcastle than he would have been.

However, the report notes a problem; that Newcastle will ‘struggle’ to meet the financial demands for the trio.
Lewis and Wilson will surely command at least £15million each even after relegation, whilst Fraser’s wages won’t be cheap as a free agent.
Bruce could now struggle to bring any of them in, never mind all three, but Newcastle fans would surely love to see the trio head to Tyneside this summer.
