Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce wants to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks and Manchester United defender Phil Jones before the transfer deadline.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim that Bruce wants more signings after securing Joe Willock’s return on a permanent basis from Arsenal.
Santos Laguna youngster Santiago Munoz is expected to join, but Bruce understandably wants a couple of more experienced options to join too.
Winks, 25, isn’t in the Tottenham starting lineup right now with Nuno Espirito Santo preferring to go with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Dele Alli.
Tottenham are also in the market for other midfielders, and this new report claims that Winks could be made available on loan before the transfer deadline.
Winks has been with Tottenham throughout his career, so leaving won’t be easy for him, but he simply needs to play regularly.
That could come with Newcastle, even though ESPN claim that Winks has decided to he wants to stay at Tottenham.

As for defender Jones, it’s abundantly clear that he just isn’t going to feature much under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
It’s unbelievable that he has been with the Red Devils for 10 years now, and Jones needs a fresh start somewhere else after so many injuries at Old Trafford.
Bruce has strong ties to United from his playing days and may feel that he can lure Jones up to Tyneside – possibly alongside midfielder Winks.
