According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has revived his interest in signing Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury.
It’s claimed that Newcastle wanted to sign Choudhury during the January transfer window, but Leicester wouldn’t let him go because Dennis Praet picked up an injury.
Leicester are now nearing a £20million deal for Lille’s Boubakary Soumare, and it looks like Choudhury could finally be available.
The problem for Bruce is that he will need Mike Ashley to increase his transfer budget in order to get his business done, which includes signing Choudhury.
With Kristoffer Ajer and Kyle Joseph chief targets, Bruce will need more cash in order to bring in Choudhury and Joe Willock.
Newcastle’s budget is thought to be just £12million before selling players, and that won’t be nearly enough to improve Newcastle’s squad.

Choudhury, 23, only played 314 minutes of Premier League action this season and may now feel the time is right to move on and play elsewhere after helping Leicester to a top-six finish.
Newcastle have had a long-standing interest in Choudhury, but Leicester have also had high hopes for him, with Foxes legend Gary Lineker banding him ‘extremely talented’ last season.
Now feels like the right time for a change though, and he could bring a combative streak to Newcastle’s midfield if Bruce can get a deal done.
