Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Mbwana Samatta.

According to The Chronicle, Steve Bruce first wanted Genk striker Mbwana Samatta at Sheffield Wednesday – and could now bring him to Newcastle United.
The Magpies splashed out for Joelinton over the summer, but the Brazilian has only scored one goal this season whilst fellow summer signing Andy Carroll can’t really be relied upon.
Yoshinori Muto and Dwight Gayle are options too, but Bruce may look to move both on in order to bring in another, more dependable striker – and Samatta is on the radar.
BBC Sport report that Newcastle and West Ham are both in for Samatta, who scored against Liverpool in the Champions League last week to bolster his reputation.
Samatta, 26, could be a top Newcastle target, and it’s now believed that Bruce first wanted Samatta at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this year having been given strong reports from friends.
Wednesday didn’t end up signing Samatta, but Bruce could now finally get his man with Newcastle, in what seems like a more realistic move given Wednesday are in the Championship.

Samatta has hit eight goals in 19 games for Genk this season as well as smashing 32 goals last season, and his prowess in front of goal could be a welcome addition at St James’ Park.
Should Newcastle sign Samatta, he would become the first Tanzanian footballer to play in the Premier League, and Bruce may want to make sure he finally gets him having failed to secure a deal once before.
