Steve Bruce has told Henri Saivet that he has absolutely no chance of breaking into Newcastle United’s team, the Northern Echo say.
Saivet has been training with Newcastle again this pre-season, but the midfielder was not part of their squad on the opening day of the season.
And Bruce seemingly feels that Saivet will have no way of making it back into contention.
Saivet now only has one year left on his contract, so Newcastle would be unlikely to stand in his way if any offers did come in for him.
The 29-year-old, who joined Newcastle back in 2016 when Steve McClaren was in charge and was described as ‘excellent’ (Guardian), has struggled to make any sort of impact in the North East.

Saivet has only ever played eight times for Newcastle, and has been sent out on loan over the past few seasons.
Whether Saivet will now have any clubs willing to take him on a permanent transfer remains to be seen, but it appears that he has absolutely no chance of playing this season if he stays at St. James’ Park.
