Bristol City are reportedly set to sign Hordur Magnusson from Juventus.
According to the Daily Mail, Bristol City are poised to land Icelandic defender Hordur Magnusson from Juventus in a £2.5m transfer.
Lee Johnson’s first summer transfer window as Robins boss has seen him snap up midfielders Gary O’Neil and Josh Brownhill as well as forward Lee Tomlin, whilst youngsters Diego De Girolamo, Jack Challis, Kodi Lyons-Foster and Shabazz Omofe have all joined the club’s developmental squad.
Now though, Johnson looks set to boost his defence, having seen Alex Pearce head back to Derby County at the end of his loan spell earlier this summer, and an intriguing deal is on the verge of completion.
The Daily Mail report that the Robins have agreed a £2.5m deal with Italian giants Juventus for the signature of centre back Hordur Magnusson, with a move to Ashton Gate now close.
Magnusson, 23, joined Juve from Icelandic side Fram back in 2013, but has yet to play for the Turin side having spent time out on loan with Spezia and most recently Cesena.
Now back at Juve but with no chance of first-team football, Magnusson is set to leave and sign for Bristol City on a three-year contract, according to reports.
Magnusson was in the Iceland squad that defied the odds to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, but didn’t play a single minute as the players ahead of him performed so admirably.
He does have five Iceland caps to his name though, and he’ll be hoping that his imminent move to Bristol City will give him the first-team football needed to become a regular for his country during the World Cup qualifiers.
