Bristol City are the latest Championship club to be credited with interest in the Portsmouth defender.

Bristol City are ‘lining up a summer swoop’ for Portsmouth’s Matt Clarke, according to the Daily Mirror (April 19th, page 59).
The left-sided centre-back has impressed since moving to Fratton Park from Ipswich Town three years ago, initially on loan.
And his performances this season are said to have caught the eye of several of Bristol City’s Championship rivals (Wolves, Reading, Hull) and some Premier League sides (Watford and Brighton).
However, the new contract Clarke signed earlier this year – which ties him to Portsmouth until June 2020 – could make him harder to prise away.
Flint contingency plan?
For long periods, Bristol City looked on course for place in next season’s Premier League, however a post-Christmas downturn in form has left the Robins all the way down in 11th position.
And while the play-offs remain possible for Lee Johnson’s side, the chances are another Championship campaign beckons.

With that could come severe repercussions, such as the loss of key players Bobby Reid, Joe Bryan and Aden Flint, who plays in Clarke’s position.
And the 21-year-old could fill the void left by the latter player.
Would Portsmouth’s Matt Clarke be a good addition for Bristol City?
