According to The Scottish Sun, Bristol City are hoping to snap up Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn having failed with a summer move for the player.
The Robins lost star striker Jonathan Kodjia to Aston Villa in the final days before the transfer deadline, but have seen loan striker Tammy Abraham smash 11 goals in 14 games since joining from Chelsea, whilst Swedish youngster Gustav Engvall arrived to replace Kodjia in August.

However, with Abraham only on loan and Engvall one for the future, manager Lee Johnson may want another striker in January – and he appears to be eyeing up a move for a Rangers ace.
The Scottish Sun claim that Bristol City wanted to sign Rangers attacker Martyn Waghorn ater Kodjia’s departure, but couldn’t tempt the Gers into striking a deal.

Now though, it’s suggested that the Robins will return with a move for Waghorn in January, in the hope of luring him back down to English football.
Waghorn, 26, smashed 28 goals in just 36 games for Rangers last season having joined from Wigan Athletic, and he’s already scored eight goals in nine games this term – though eight of those came in the Scottish League Cup.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton with Martyn Waghorn
The former Sunderland and Leicester City man has enjoyed a great spell at Ibrox so far, but turned down a new contract over the summer to stay with Rangers, as reported by The Guardian.
Still contracted until 2018, Waghorn will allegedly be the subject of a January bid from Bristol City, though it’s claimed that any move will receive a ‘cool’ response from Gers boss Mark Warburton, who will want to keep one of his main attackers at the club.
