The Newcastle United midfielder could move up a division in January, with Bristol City, Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers said to have checked on his Blackpool performances.

Bristol City, Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers are interested in offering Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff ‘a crack at life in the Championship’, according to the Chronicle.

But it is claimed the trio face competition from Newcastle’s Premier League rivals Bournemouth, who are said to have tracked the midfielder since last season.

Eddie Howe, manager of AFC Bournemouth looks on before the pre-season friendly match between AFC Bournemouth and Valencia CF at Vitality Stadium on July 30, 2017 in Bournemouth, England.

Longstaff is excelling on loan to Blackpool, where he has scored four goals and assisted three in six League One outings this season.

The 19-year-old’s temporary deal expires in January, however, and he could be Championship bound with Bristol City, Barnsley and Bolton all being credited with interest.

Although pleased with Longstaff’s progress so far, according to the Chronicle, it is claimed that Newcastle want him to continue gaining first-team experience before returning to pre-season training next July.

And even though Bournemouth are also said to be lurking, a spell in England’s second tier would be the logical next step on the Geordie’s career path, after a stint with Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock last season.

Bristol City have begun the new campaign brightly and currently occupy eighth position, 12 and 16 places better off than Barnsley and Bolton respectively.

Would a move to Bristol City, Barnsley, Bolton or Bournemouth be best for the Newcastle midfielder after his Blackpool spell has ended?
