According to Football London, Alexandre Lacazette has no intention of signing a new contract at Arsenal.
The striker has entered the final year of his deal, and there’s no indication that he’s willing to stay on beyond this season.
The Frenchman was signed for a then club-record fee back in 2016, and while he’s not been an absolute star, he’s been a very good servant for the Gunners.
Indeed, he was the club’s top scorer last term, and he’s previously been labelled by Mikel Arteta as ‘brilliant’.
At the age of 30, Lacazette probably has one more big contract to earn in his career, and it seems as though he doesn’t want to spend his twilight years at the Emirates.
Arsenal had tried to shift Lacazette for a fee this summer, but there were no takers, and the France international will surely be hoping he can find a suitor once he’s available to move on a Bosman.
Arsenal have had some absolutely awful contract situations in recent years with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil being two examples of contracts being handled poorly, and it seems as though Lacazette may end up going in the same way.
It will be interesting to see what the Gunners decide to do with the striker in January.
