Afriyie Acquah nearly joined Birmingham City in the summer but could now swap Serie A for The Seagulls instead.

If Brighton’s 3-0 away win at West Ham on Friday night is anything to go by, Chris Hughton’s side are well placed to survive an immediate return to the Championship this season.
The Seagulls have a solid spine with Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy throwing their bodies on the line at every available opportunity, Pascal Gross and Davy Propper providing energy and creativity while Glenn Murray provides presence and goal threat in attack.

The report claims that The Seagulls have watched the 25-year-old this season and Acquah would give thought to moving to England if presented with the opportunity. The Ghanaian midfielder was close to joining Birmingham City in the summer, only for the deal to fall through, and would cost around £6.7 million.
Acquah, who has 29 caps for Ghana and considers Michael Essien a role model (Goal), has fallen out of favour at Torino this season and started just one Serie A game.

There is a very real chance, therefore, that he could become the latest impressive addition made by Brighton after a summer transfer window that saw the newly promoted club pull off astute deals for the likes of Propper, Gross and Jose Izquierdo.
Brighton’s gain, however, will be summer suitors Birmingham City’s loss with The Blues sitting one place and one point above the Championship drop zone.
