According to the Daily Mail, Brighton and Hove Albion are hoping to seal a last-gasp deal for Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen – and have until 1am to complete a move.

The Seagulls have added plenty to their squad this summer, with the likes of Mat Ryan, Markus Suttner, Pascal Gross, Davy Propper, Jose Izquierdo and Izzy Brown all arriving, whilst manager Chris Hughton also tied up a late loan deal for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Yet, with no goals scored in their three Premier League games so far this season, Brighton must sign a striker – but the 11pm transfer deadline passed with no new forward brought in.

A move for Deportivo La Coruna’s Florin Andone fell through, but Brighton have launched a last-gasp bid to snap up Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen, having been given dispensation by the Premier League to try and push through a deal before 1am.

If paperwork is submitted to the Premier League that shows an intention to sign a player, then clubs can be given an extra two years to complete the formalities – and Brighton hope to use that to their advantage with a move for Vincent Janssen.

The Daily Mail report that Brighton want to take Janssen on loan for the rest of the season after a late striker merry-go-round, which saw Wilfried Bony re-join Swansea, allowing Swans striker Fernando Llorente to join Tottenham, and potentially freeing up Janssen for a loan move.

Dutch international Janssen – who played for his country against France this evening – hit 31 goals in 49 games for AZ Alkmaar but struggled in his first season with Tottenham last term, registering just six goals in all competitions, with only two coming from open play.

A loan move may be ideal for Janssen, giving him regular playing time in the Premier League, and Brighton will hope that he can put the finishing touches to a dramatic late deal.
