Brighton have made contact with Benfica over a deal to sign Newcastle and Manchester United target Goncalo Ramos.
That is according to Record in Portugal, who believe Benfica have slapped a €40m (£35m) price tag on their No.88’s head as a result of his stunning performances.
Brighton make move for Newcastle & Manchester United target
Well, Roberto De Zerbi is keen to bring a new forward to the Amex Stadium, and it’s no surprise to see him focus his attention on Ramos.
The 21-year-old has been in superb form for Benfica so far this season, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.
According to 90min, Erik ten Hag wants to bring the Benfica wonderkid to Old Trafford in January amid doubts over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, although he faces competition from Eddie Howe and Newcastle.
However, Brighton seem to have now made the first concrete move.

Record believe the Seagulls have made contact with Benfica, although they will attempt to negotiate the £35m asking price, which they deem too expensive.
The Portuguese news outlet also mention that Southampton and Wolves are interested in Ramos.
Goncalo Ramos could double his value
Brighton, Newcastle and Manchester United will have one eye on the World Cup later this month, and they will selfishly be hoping that Ramos has a poor tournament with Portugal.
The 21-year-old is set to take the stage in Qatar after receiving a call-up from Fernando Santos, and if he takes the World Cup by storm, Benfica could quite justifiably double his £35m price tag.
After all, Manchester United spent £86m on Antony back in the summer, so £70m for one of the most exciting centre-forwards in Europe wouldn’t be an unfair price, especially after a strong World Cup campaign.
Keep an eye on this situation, as plenty of Premier League clubs are keen to sign Ramos in 2023.
