Report: Brighton make bid for Newcastle’s Aleksandar Mitrovic

Brighton and Hove Albion are reportedly keen on the Newcastle United striker.

According to Sky Sports, the Seagulls have made a bid for Magpies hitman Aleksandar Mitrovic, as Chris Hughton looks to add further depth to his attacking options.

The Serbian forward joined Newcastle from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £14.5 million, but he has failed to establish himself on Tyneside.

He has scored just 17 goals during his two-and-a-half year spell with the Toon, and has played a peripheral role for them this season, failing to make a Premier League start thus far.

The Sun claim that the Magpies are willing to sell the 23-year-old striker this month, but only if they receive a bid in the region of £15 million for him.

Sky Sports claim that Brighton have made a bid for the Newcastle forward, although do not specify how much they have offered or whether or not it has been accepted.

Hughton has already added quality to his forward line this month, following the acquisition of Jürgen Locadia from PSV, and if they backed that up with the signing of Mitrovic from Newcastle, Brighton fans would surely be extremely happy with their club’s January business.
