According to Superdeporte, Brighton and Hove Albion have launched an offer for former Leeds United loanee fullback Alfonso Pedraza.

The Villarreal defender looks set to leave the club this summer.

Pedraza has been on Villarreal’s books for almost a decade. However, he has barely featured for the club, spending several seasons out on loan.

Back in January 2017, he joined Leeds United on a six-month loan deal.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed he joined Leeds with the view of a permanent £8.5 million deal depending on the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites ultimately missed out that year, finishing seventh in the Championship.

After more loan spells at Alaves and Real Betis in La Liga, Pedraza now looks set for a permanent move away from Villarreal with Brighton leading the race.

Superdeporte claim the Seagulls are eyeing a deal around £6 million. With his contract expiring next summer, the Spanish club are content to cash in on him.

Pedraza, a former Spain U21 international, featured as a left winger in his earlier days but now he predominantly plays as an attacking left-back or as a wingback.

Brighton often switch between a back three and back four, therefore manager Graham Potter may see the Spaniard as competition for Dan Burn or Solly March.
