The Seagulls have joined Villa in the race to sign Foxes hitman Leonardo Ulloa, according to the Daily Mail, as Chris Hughton looks to add more firepower to his ranks at the Amex Stadium.

The Argentine spent 18 months with Brighton, after joining the south coast club from Almeria in January 2013, and went on to score 23 goals in 50 league appearances for them.

He went on to join Leicester in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £8 million, and after initially impressing at the King Power Stadium, he has found first-team starts hard to come by.

Ulloa has scored 20 goals for the Foxes during a three-and-a-half year spell with the club, and his time in the east Midlands looks to be numbered.

The Daily Mail claim that Villa were leading the race to sign the 31-year-old, before it emerged that Brighton are interested in signing their former player.

Ulloa has just 17 months remaining on his current deal with Leicester, so he should be available for a cut-price deal this month, and he will surely prove to be a useful asset to whichever club wins the race to sign him.
