Brighton and Hove Albion have entered talks over a deal for £13 million Reims striker Boulaye Dia, according to Le10 Sport.

While the Seagulls were made to sweat for their Premier League status, Graham Potter’s free-flowing side surely would have secured their survival a lot sooner if they had a reliable goal-scorer in their ranks.

Neal Maupay and Aaron ‘mini Vardy’ Connolly enjoyed impressive debut campaigns at the Amex, but two of the most tireless forwards in the division are hardly the most prolific.

Maupay scored ten times but missed his fair share of sitters, while Connolly found the net just once after exploding onto the scene with a stunning brace in that 3-0 thrashing of Tottenham back in October.

Whether Dia is the man capable of transforming Brighton from a bottom-half team into one capable of challenging for a top-half finish, however, remains to be seen.

Le10 Sport claim that Brighton have entered discussions over a deal for a man they have been tracking since January, with the Frenchman expected to cost £13 million.

Dia scored seven times in 24 games as Reims confounded the critics to finish sixth in the French top-flight in 2019/20.

The Red and Whites will now be playing Europa League football next season, marking their first continental foray since all the way back in 1963.

And Reims will be praying that the chance to make history at the Stade August-Delaune will be enough to convince their star man to resist the lure of the Premier League.
