The Derby County forward is reportedly wanted by promotion rivals Brighton & Hove Albion next month.
Derby County winger Johnny Russell is a target for Championship promotion rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, according to the Sun.
The report states that Brighton boss Chris Hughton is plotting a £1.5 million bid for Russell, whom he thinks might be tempted by the move having been “in and out of Steve McClaren’s side” – but adds that Derby “will be hard to deal with”.

In actual fact, Russell has started eight out of a possible 11 fixtures since McClaren’s October return to Pride Park, however, the Scotland international has found the net just once all season and provided as many assists for his team.
It is claimed that Derby have already started looking for a replacement, with Russell’s contract due to expire in 18 months time.

Brighton, however, have no shortage of widemen, with Anthony Knockaert, Jamie Murphy and Jiri Skalak recently joined by the returning Solly March, who laid on the Frenchman’s goal against Birmingham City this weekend.
The Seagulls’ win at St. Andrew’s keeps them on course for automatic promotion, with McClaren’s Rams 12 points behind them in seventh place.
