The Crystal Palace midfielder is said to be a target for Brighton & Hove Albion as well as Burnley.

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur is interesting rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, according to The Daily Mail.

Brighton are said to have targeted McArthur as ‘a player of proven Premier league experience who can help them consolidate in their first season’ back at the top level.

The report adds the 29-year-old is ‘expected’ to leave Selhurst Park as new boss Frank de Boer looks to ‘re-shape’ his midfield.

But Brighton could face competition from Aston Villa and Burnley, whom The Sun reported earlier this week were ready to step up their McArthur pursuit.

According to that particular report, Palace are set an asking price of £2 million for McArthur, who arrived in south London from Wigan Athletic three years ago.

While that is unlikely to deter either Brighton or Burnley, the Clarets could have the upper hand on Chris Hughton’s side, given the animosity between them and Palace.

And it remains to be seen whether or not Villa will continue their interest, having completed the signing of reported Burnley target Glenn Whelan on Thursday.
