According to L’Equipe, Rangers target Adrian Grbic has been the subject of a bid from Brest – but the offer has been rejected.
TEAMtalk reported in April that Rangers have identified the Clermont Foot goalscorer as a potential signing this summer amid question marks over the future of Alfredo Morelos.
Celtic, Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion were also thought to be interested, but it seems that Brest wanted to try their luck.
It’s stated that Brest have failed with a number of bids for potential signings, with Grbic one of them – and they may not be able to return.
The Ligue 1 side seemingly realise that Grbic will cost huge money, and they can’t be drawn into a bidding war for the Austrian hitman.
That should be a boost for Rangers, who will be hoping that Clermont Foot resist the temptation to sell before the Gers know more about Morelos.
Grbic, 23, has starred this season with 17 goals in 26 games. A former Austrian youth international, he has excelled with his outstanding free kicks and long-range shooting.
Despite impressing in just one season in France’s second tier, Grbic is a wanted man – and Clermont Foot’s president Ahmet Schaefer has told France Bleu that a host of clubs want to sign him for money he has ‘never seen’ before.
“A Bundesliga club, and another at the bottom of the Premier League table, appeared in January with amounts that I had never seen,” said Schaefer. “Everything that happens is interesting. The Bundesliga has resumed. We have kept relations with the club concerned. England will also resume. And after that, a whole series of Ligue 1 clubs have moved. Look, he still has two years on the contract. So that’s to be seen,” he added.
