Adam Rooney has been a reliable source of goals for Aberdeen but the former Stoke City youngster could return to England with Brentford.
Aberdeen lost their captain Ryan Jack, their star man Jonny Hayes and one of their most reliable goalscorers in Niall McGinn in the summer. Now, manager Derek McInnes is being heavily tipped to take over at Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers.
And, to cap it all, GetWestLondon reports that star striker Adam Rooney is now on the radar of English second-tier side Brentford.
Rooney, who has scored 54 goals in the last four seasons for The Dons, is out of contract at the end of this season and may be available on a cut-price deal in January.
And the report claims that Brentford are taking a look at the 29-year-old as manager Dean Smith aims to boost his striking options in the second half of the campaign.
Neal Maupay and Lasse Vibe have been sharing the centre-forward role this season but, while the former has five in ten starts, the latter (below) is yet to open his account in 2017/18.
Rooney has plenty of experience in England and knows the Championship well, having represented Stoke City and Birmingham in the second tier.
It remains to be seen, however, whether the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international will be the latest important first-team player to leave perennial runners-up Aberdeen in the space of just a few months.
