According to The Scottish Sun, Leicester City have joined the list of clubs pursuing the signature of Hibernian talent Josh Doig.

It’s claimed that the Foxes scouted Doig on Monday night as he played for Hibs against Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup.

Brendan Rodgers’ men are doing their homework on Doig ahead of potentially making a move to sign Doig, who would cost around £1.5million.

Leicester have the likes of Timothy Castagne, Ricardo Pereira and James Justin who can all play at left wing back, but are all right-footed by nature.

Luke Thomas offers a left-footed option, but Rodgers may feel that Doig is the ideal option to build up into that role over the coming years.

The 18-year-old has bagged one goal and four assists in 24 games for Hibs this season, and it looks likely that he will end up making a big move in the near future.

The report adds that Arsenal are also keen, with the Gunners desperate to add another left back to support Doig’s compatriot Kieran Tierney in the left back department.

Add in that Leeds United fancy him amid question marks over Ezgjan Alioski, and the battle for Doig’s signature is intense – especially with Manchester City keen too.

Leicester joining the race will be a frustration to Arsenal and Leeds, but they have been in the race for so long that they may hope Doig is drawn in by their long-standing admiration.
