Everton are reportedly keen on Shakhtar’s Jose Boto.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Everton have made contact with Shakhtar Donetsk scout Jose Boto ahead of a potential move to Goodison Park.
The Toffees may have big chances coming up, but many would have expected that to be a manager, with Marco Silva under huge pressure.
Yet whilst one Portuguese man is fighting for his Everton future, another could be arriving, and it’s not to replace Silva.
Instead, it’s believed that Everton are pushing to land Shakhtar scout Boto, with Marcel Brands and co making contact with him about a move to Merseyside.
Boto, 53, is one of the most highly-rated scouts in the world, and was best known for his eight-year stint as Benfica’s chief scout, in which he helped sign a host of stars.
Axel Wistel, Ezequiel Garay, Nemanja Matic, Anderson Talisca, Raul Jimenez, Luka Jovic, Alejandro Grimaldo, Rafa Silva, Andrija Zivkovic and Ederson were just a number of the players he lured to Benfica, making a profit on most.
In 2018, Boto headed over to Shakhtar, where he has continued to sign young players with potential such as Marquinhos Cipriano, Manor Solomon, Marcos Antonio, Tete and Vitao.
That’s the kind of strategy that Brands wants too, and landing Boto to work underneath the Dutchman could make Everton a real force in the transfer market.
