Speculation has gone pretty cold on Everton signing Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Guardian reported in July that Everton had ‘made progress’ in their efforts to bring the Brazilian centre-back to Goodison Park.
But since then, there hasn’t been much progress following the reports that the Toffees had been making forward strides in this endeavour.
That being said, it looks like the Merseyside club remain keen to sign the Lille defender.
According to The Echo, Gabriel is still on Everton’s wishlist and they believed that he wanted to join before the global health outbreak.
That has seen a number of new clubs make their interest known – including Arsenal – but the Blues are still actively pursuing a deal.
The report from The Echo adds that Everton were not willing to meet the original £30 million asking price after the pandemic hit, but he’s reportedly available for £18 million now [UOL].
The Ligue 1 side need to offload players this summer to avoid penalties from UEFA with regards to Financial Fair Play.
