Everton director of football Marcel Brands has reportedly flown to Spain to negotiate a deal for Barcelona’s Lucas Digne.

The Toffees have endured a quiet start to the window in terms of incomings, with Marco Silva still awaiting his first addition of the summer following his appointment at the end of last season.
The Mail reports that Richarlison is closing in on a move to Goodison Park, and it appears that Digne may not be too far behind as the Merseyside outfit look to strengthen their options on the left-hand side of defence.

It would arguably be an excellent deal for Everton to land Digne this summer. With Leighton Baines edging towards the end of his career at the highest level and last season proving that there is not particularly adequate cover for him in the squad, strengthening in that area of the field was a must for Silva and Brands.
It remains to be seen in the Dutchman can get a deal across the line while he is away with the Catalan giants, but the signs certainly hint that Everton are putting a lot of energy into getting Digne to the Premier League this summer.
