Everton are expected to have a busy summer after the appointment of Marcel Brands.
Teesside Gazette have claimed that Everton’s new-look management team of director of football Marcel Brands and boss Marco Silva will discuss the future of Mo Besic in the coming weeks – after a successful loan with Middlesbrough.
The 25-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Sam Allardyce, according to the report, but the former England manager has since been sacked and replaced by ex-Watford gaffer Silva.
Silva will combine with new director of football Brands this summer in a bid to bring in the best players possible at Everton in the coming months, but they must also consider the future of a number of fringe stars.
One of those is midfielder Besic, who starred on loan at Boro during the second half of the 2017-18 campaign. He made 17 appearances for the Championship giants, pushing them towards the play-offs, finally losing to Aston Villa.
It is believed that Boro are keen on retaining Besic on a permanent basis this summer, but Brands and Silva are first to discuss whether the Bosnia international has a future at Goodison Park.
Besic, who joined Everton from Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the summer of 2014 after an excellent World Cup with Bosnia, has three years remaining on a contract the Daily Star claim is worth £30,000 a week.
