According to The Mirror, Everton’s Marcel Brands and Marco Silva are desperate to bring midfielders Jack Wilshere and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Goodison Park this summer.

The Toffees have yet to make a new signing this summer, but with new director of football Brands and new manager Silva on board, fans are expecting an exciting summer nonetheless.

Everton are in the market for a defender, left back, midfielder and a forward this summer according to the Liverpool Echo, but now they’re being linked with two midfielders.

Wilshere, 26, has been touted for stardom for many years but has seen injuries curtail his impact with Arsenal, and the England international – who didn’t make this summer’s World Cup squad – is now a free agent after deciding not to pen a new contract.

The midfielder is bound to attract plenty of interest despite his injury woes, and Everton could offer him the chance to restart his career on Merseyside, though it’s unclear just what kind of wages he will be demanding.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Loftus-Cheek is set to start for England against Panama at the World Cup in Russia this afternoon, and could yet be loaned out by Chelsea again this summer.

The midfielder enjoyed a strong loan spell with Crystal Palace and whilst many want him to feature for Chelsea next season, the Blues may instead loan him out again – and Everton want to beat Palace and Newcastle United to his signature to revolutionise their midfield, though it’s unclear just how he and Wilshere would fit in alongside Idrissa Gueye and Gylfi Sigurdsson in Silva’s engine room.
