Manchester City midfielder Darko Gyabi is on the verge of moving to Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United, according to The Telegraph.
Darko Gyabi to join Leeds from Manchester City
The report has claimed that Gyabi will move to Leeds from Premier League rivals Manchester City for £5 million in the summer transfer window.
England international midfielder Kalvin Phillips is switching to Premier League champions City, according to the report.
One for the future
In our view, Darko Gyabi is a player for the future for Leeds United and cannot be expected to make an immediate impact at Elland Road.
After all, the box-to-box midfielder is only 18 at the moment and is very inexperienced.

The youngster came through the ranks at Millwall and moved to Manchester City in 2018.
“A player who catches the eye with his skill in tight areas and ability to dribble through midfield, Darko played a key role for the U18s in 2020/21 and progressed to the EDS for 2021/22 – playing 11 times in the successful Premier League 2 season,” states Gyabi’s profile on Manchester City’s official website.
The Athletic have reported that a potential transfer for Gyabi from City to Leeds is separate to the deal that will take Phillips to the Premier League champions.
This suggests that Leeds are not expecting Gyabi to replace Phillips, at least not straightaway.
It will be interesting to see if Gyabi is used in the Leeds first team next season or if he is initially part of the youth side.
