The Cherries have apparently been rebuffed in their attempts to do some last-ditch January business.
Bournemouth appear to have failed in their attempt to do some last-minute January business with Sky Sports reporting that their bid for Chris Mepham has been rejected by Brentford.
Sky Sports understands that the Cherries put together a £5.5m proposal for Mepham, plus add-ons, but that the Bees will not entertain any offers for the 20-year-old defender in this transfer window.
Mepham has broken into the first team at Griffin Park this season and Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has personally scouted the young centre-back several times, according to Sky Sports.
Bournemouth have not made any signings this month, and were one of the quieter clubs in the summer too as they added only Asmir Begovic, Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe to their senior squad.
Wales Under-21 international would be one for the future at the Vitality Stadium, although Howe could do with some more immediate defensive cover because of a long-term injury to Tyrone Mings.
Brentford are 11th in the Championship table, only five points adrift of the playoff places, which explains their strong stance on Mepham, with whom Bournemouth may have better luck in the summer.
