According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Aston Villa will be given the chance by Bournemouth to match any offers that come in for Tyrone Mings – surely paving the way for the defender to make a permanent switch to the Premier League newbies.

Mings’ future is one situation that the large majority of Villa supporters are keen to see resolved as soon as possible after an inspired loan spell with Dean Smith’s men culminated in play-off final glory.

The 26-year-old arrived at Villa Park at a time when Smith’s side were incredibly short of options at the back and were looking destined to finish well outside of the top six in the Championship. But Mings’ arrival, along with Jack Grealish’s return from injury, proved to be a catalyst for Villa’s outstanding run over the final months of the campaign.

Unsurprisingly, the former Ipswich Town man is one player that Smith wishes to sign this summer. And it appears that Villa have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the defender.

The Mirror reports that Bournemouth plan to give Villa the chance to match any bid that comes in for Mings, and thus, as long as they can agree personal terms, they could be in a clear pole position to land the centre-back.

It would be a fantastic way for Villa to kick off their summer if they could bring Mings back. He made such an impact in such a short space of time that it would be little surprise if he was also able to raise his game at the highest level.
