Bournemouth have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace’s Adlene Guedioura.
As reported by the Mirror, newly-promoted Premier League side Bournemouth are keen on signing out-of-favour midfielder Adlene Guedioura from fellow English club Crystal Palace.
The former Nottingham Forest star made just a handful of Premier League substitute appearances last season and spent a chunk of the campaign on loan at Watford.
Seemingly deemed surplus to requirements at Selhurst Park this season, Guedioura has been widely tipped to leave the club and has a suitor in Bournemouth.
The Cherries need extra bodies in midfield for when injuries and suspensions kick in, and the Mirror claims that boss Eddie Howe is looking at getting a deal done before the transfer window closes.
What does Guedioura has to offer?
Bournemouth boast a selection of fine possession-based midfielders, with Andrew Surman and Dan Gosling comfortable playing in a midfield two and controlling proceedings.
However, for those tricky away games against the country’s leading clubs, Howe would be better off going with a five-man midfield and deploying a defensive-minded player such as Guedioura.
Currently, the Cherries are light in regards to a midfield enforcer and the French-born Algeria international is an ideal candidate for that role, excelling in tackling and breaking up the play.
During his short stint at Watford last season, Guedioura made a good impression on the Hornets and even managed to get among the goals, scoring three times and adding a further four assists in 13 starts.
