Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser has just a year left on his contract at the Vitality Stadium but the Cherries are in no rush to sell him this summer.
The 25-year-old’s current deal with the Cherries expires at the end of next season and his fine showing in the Premier League last term attracted a lot of interest from Arsenal. The Mirror reported recently that the Gunners were back in pursuit of Fraser and that Bournemouth would be willing to sell him for just £20 million.
Just £20 million for a player of Fraser quality, especially after his stunning season for Bournemouth which saw him rack up a combined 23 goals and assists, would be a huge bargain for Arsenal who are struggling to find the cash to invest in bigger players.
However, Bournemouth’s new stance on Fraser’s situation is a brave one considering that they will miss out on making a massive profit on the player who was signed for just £400,000 from Scottish side Aberdeen six years ago.
The Cherries had an up and down campaign last term as they finished 14th in the league. Fraser’s performances played a massive part in helping Eddie Howe’s side to end the season well clear of the relegation places and keeping hold of him is a massive boost for them ahead of next season.
Howe will be hoping that Fraser will extend his contract at the club but if he fails to do so, he will at least get the opportunity to finish his Bournemouth’s career on a high with an even better campaign next season. Arsenal will have to look elsewhere now that a move Fraser looks unlikely which is a massive blow considering their limited transfer kitty.
