Wolves have reportedly failed with a bid for Everton target Boubakary Soumare.

According to RMC Sport, Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare has rejected a potential €40million (£36million) move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Soumare, 20, came up through the ranks with Paris FC and Paris Saint-Germain, but is now making a name for himself with Lille following a 2017 move.

The midfielder – once compared to Paul Pogba – has shown promise as a big, athletic and technically gifted midfielder who can play box-to-box.

It’s now believed that Wolves have launched a €40million (£36million) move to sign Soumare, but he has rejected the move because he wants to play in the Champions League with Lille this coming season.

Everton are also thought to be keen, and they may well hope to land him if Idrissa Gueye moves on to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Yet with no Champions League football on offer at Goodison Park either, they stand little chance of changing the youngster’s mind as he eyes a Lille stay.

Both clubs should keep the France Under-20 on their radar, as he may well be ready to make a move away from the Ligue 1 side in a year’s time.

Soumare should be a more rounded player by then, and whilst his price tag may rise, he looks set for a bright future and may be worth the wait.
