According to France Football, Borussia Dortmund have joined the race to sign Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s claimed that Dortmund are in the market for a new stopper this summer, seemingly seeking competition for Swiss international Roman Burki.
RB Leipzig’s Peter Gulacsi and Benfica’s Odisseas Vlachodimos are two options, but Maignan is now on their list too.
Who is Mike Maignan?
Maignan, 25, came through the ranks with Paris Saint-Germain before leaving for Lille in search of a firs-team pathway in 2015.
The Frenchman has become one of the top goalkeepers in Europe since making that move, showing shot-stopping and technical ability.
Maignan only has one France cap to his name, but is widely touted as the successor to Hugo Lloris for his country… and possibly at club level too.

Tottenham’s secret weapon
L’Equipe reported earlier this month that Spurs are looking to lure Maignan to North London this summer as they seek to add another stopper.
Dortmund are appealing, but Tottenham may have a secret weapon in Nuno Santos, who was Maignan’s goalkeeping coach at Lille and is now part of Jose Mourinho’s staff at Spurs.
Maignan posted an emotional farewell to Santos in 2019, and he could be the key for Spurs if they want to pip Dortmund to Maignan’s signing this summer.
