According to Cadena SER, Borussia Dortmund now pose a serious threat to Arsenal in the race to sign Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard.
What’s the story?
Well, Foot Mercato revealed that Arsenal held a meeting with Real Madrid over a loan deal for the Belgium international earlier this week.
Real Madrid are open to sanctioning a loan exit, as they hope to see Hazard rebuild his reputation at the World Cup ahead of a potential sale in 2023.
However, Borussia Dortmund could ruin things for Arsenal.
Cadena SER believe the Signal Iduna Park is now the most likely destination for Hazard, for a number of reasons.
Firstly, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has a great relationship with Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, having previously negotiated deals for Achraf Hakimi and Reiner Jesus.
Secondly, the £381,000-a-week man’s brother – Thorgan Hazard – already plays for Borussia Dortmund, so that could also be a big factor.
Arsenal should leave Eden Hazard to Borussia Dortmund

In our view, Arsenal shouldn’t sign Hazard, and must give Borussia Dortmund a free run at his signature.
Mikel Arteta is creating a fantastic, youthful side at the Emirates Stadium, where the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli are shining.
The transfer approach has been to sign young gems with room to improve, such as Aaron Ramsdale, so it would be a very unusual move if Hazard arrived in north London.

At the age of 31, and with just six goals in 65 games for Real Madrid, the former Lille forward isn’t the player we all watched shine for Chelsea anymore.
Therefore, with all things considered, Arsenal should ignore the Belgian.
