According to the Northern Echo, Middlesbrough have launched a loan bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Kenneth Zohore ahead of the new campaign.

The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour with the Baggies.

But during his previous spell at Cardiff City under Neil Warnock, Zohore showed his class as he helped fire the Bluebirds to promotion to the Premier League.

Boro are in dire need of strengthening after a disappointing campaign.

And the latest from the Northern Echo claims the Teesside club have moved for Zohore.

Speaking ahead of Boro’s Carabao Cup clash, Warnock called the West Brom striker outstanding.

“I think everyone knows that he [Kenneth Zohore] played two-thirds of a season for me and was outstanding and helped us get promotion. Now, he’s got a very lucrative contract in the Premier League I would imagine, with West Brom, and good luck to him,” Warnock explained.

The report adds that West Brom ideally want to sell Zohore and recoup some of the £8 million fee they paid Cardiff to sign him last summer.

His chances of game-time with the Baggies this season is slim. Slaven Bilic, meanwhile, is said to be keen on a deal for Huddersfield Town’s Karlan Grant.

Zohore’s physical strengths and aerial ability suits Warnock’s style of play.

Boro have Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher for options. But with Rudy Gestede leaving, there is space for a battering ram up top and Zohore seemingly fits the bill.

Warnock has often mentioned his desire to have four different striker options.

The Northern Echo add that free agent Yaya Sanogo is also on the agenda, but the number one target is West Brom’s Zohore who could be a top quality addition.
