Andy King could be leaving Leicester City before the January transfer window closes with his manager Claude Puel admitting a loan deal is possible.

“We will see with Andy,” Puel told the Leicester Mercury. “I appreciate him because he is professional and an example for the squad. He is an example for the team and we will see.

“We have a lot of players in his position and it is difficult to give him more game time but we will see what happens at the end of the window.

“Perhaps for some players, without the game time, they would like to go and we will see if there are opportunities for them.”

One club who are already considering capitalising on the availability of King is Middlesbrough, with the Northern Echo reporting Tony Pulis’ interest.

Pulis wants to bring in two loanees before the window shuts, with the other believed to be Jack Harrison; who will be loaned to Boro after completing his £4m switch to Manchester City from New York City.

Everton’s Mo Besic is also on the Welshman’s wishlist as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of a push towards promotion from the Championship in the latter half of the season.

King has struggled for consistent game time with the Foxes this season, making 11 Premier League appearances – five of which have been starts – and playing 15 games in total in all competitions.

The 29-year-old is a product of the Leicester academy and to date has played 374 times for the club, helping them to a shock league title win in 2015/16.
