Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti have claimed that new Rangers signing Borna Barisic will earn a huge £670,000 a year at Rangers, after he signed a four-year deal to join the Gers.

BBC Sport claim the 25-year-old, who becomes Steven Gerrard’s 11th summer signing at Ibrox, has moved to the Scottish giants for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £2.2million.

He is now set to do battle with Jon Flanagan, Declan John and Lee Wallace for a place on the left side of defence, linking up with fellow Croatian star Nikola Katic who has impressed at centre-back alongside Connor Goldson.

Now, Barisic’s wage is said to be £13,000 a week at Ibrox, becoming just another example of how the Rangers board are choosing to back manager Gerrard in the transfer window.

Barisic starred against Rangers for NK Osijek in the second round of Europa League qualifying, scoring Osijek’s only goal of the two-legged tie as Rangers earned a narrow 2-1 aggregate win.

The defender brings with him a wealth of experience in Croatian football, and has even appeared for his country on three separate occasions. He could have featured for the Gers on Thursday, when they go up against Maribor in the Europa League, but is cup tied.
